This is about EVE Online Nullsec. Since DUST 514 will someday impact Nullsec Sovereignty I figured General Discussion would work for this. Please move this if I am mistaken.
Nullsec has gotten pretty static and boring over the last few years. Mega-Alliances (MA) own everything and just sit in their corners mining Tech Moons and only come out to fight when a Titan clicks GÇ£JumpGÇ¥ instead of GÇ£BridgeGÇ¥ The thing that seems to be causing all the boredom is that thereGÇÖs no real incentive for the MAGÇÖs to leave their space or fight over things. Nullsec is no longer chaotic. A bunch of people have put up proposals on the EVE forums about systems losing resources, their being caps or exponential increases in maintenance fees and some such. All of it focused on resparking the chaos that makes Nullsec so much fun.
I had a random thought last night that is pretty simple GÇô but could cause insane amounts of chaos (good chaos) in Nullsec and make the MAGÇÖs spend billions every day fighting each other. IGÇÖm new to Nullsec so I wanted to run this by the EVE Veterans here before I try to brave the EVE Online forums.
Background There needs to be things to fight over. CCP tried this when the implemented Tech Moons; hugely profitable entities that the MAGÇÖs would fight over. However, all they did was relocate some of their territory and essentially split the tech moons among each other GÇô so now theyGÇÖre just sitting on them and not really trying to take the other ones because itGÇÖs not worth it. CCP was on to something by creating a highly desired yet scarce entity that the MAGÇÖs would all want. They just put in too many (which meant each MA block took one or two and became content).
Idea Implement a tiny number of distinct entities, scattered throughout all of Nullsec, that are invaluable. My idea was three Jovian (POS) stations that gave a bonus to whichever Corporation (not Alliance) that owned it. Each station bonus should be different, and the entire point is to be so valuable as to promote conflict because everyone wants these stations. The bonuses I came up with are:
- Jovian Station A: 2x Skill Point gain
- Jovian Station B: +10 to ALL Standings (You can never drop below 0)
- Jovian Station C: 3x Bounties and 3x Loyalty Points (probably need a better one)
Again, these bonuses only apply to the Corporation that owns the station. The reason being that a Corporation is capped at 6500 members so it stops a MA from taking a station and all of their 50,000 members reaping the benefits. Plus, it also causes strife inside the MAGÇÖs. GÇ£Why does Corp X get the bonus and not us? WeGÇÖre also paying to defend it!GÇ¥ A double SP bonus isnGÇÖt transferrable and since itGÇÖs so desirable it introduces chaos.
Second, the system the station is in should be pretty easy to get too (not tucked back in a corner) and hard to defend. This will ensure that many fights happen over this system. Everyone will want these bonuses, and since only one Corp can have them there will be Trillions of ISK spent to capture and defend these stations.
ThatGÇÖs the basic idea. EVE Veterans, what do you think? Would you fight over 2x SP gain? What else would you fight over? The main point is that there needs to be some distinct entities that grant invaluable and non transferrable bonuses to the owning Corporation. This will cause chaos as every Corporation fights to own these distinct entities. |
